Carennac - ‘Lot de Flat’

97.3 km

873m of climbing

Rating: medium

Starting in Argentat, this is one of the longest relatively flat rides and is a great way to break up days with longer, challenging climbs. Heading out of Correze into the department of the Lot, granite gives way to limestone and immense landscapes reveal fields of sunflowers and views of Chateau de Castelnau-Bretenoux and fairytale Rocamadour. At roughly the halfway point of the ride, 43km, the lunch stop is at one of several cafes and restaurants next to the medieval priory in the historic village of Carennac - officially one of the most beautiful villages in France. A few kilometers ahead, the river crossing is on a single track suspension bridge as the road loops around through small villages and hamlets heading back towards Argentat. A coffee stop en route is always an option!
